Step into the sounds and stories of a steel mill town
Roebling MuseumRoebling Museum Virtual Tours Virtual Tour
In collaboration with Roebling Museum, we created three custom mobile tours using the STQRY platform, taking the exhibition within the museum and expanding it out into the streets of the town that hosts it.

One tour is designed to accompany visitors through the museum's exhibition. Oral history segments are accompanied by custom soundscapes that shift by location, immersing visitors in what it meant to live within earshot of a working mill. The sounds of daily life permeate the experience: industry clangs, family chatter, meals being made, laundry being done. Through professional narration and acting, the immigrant families who made up Roebling's workforce speak directly to visitors.

From early labor strikes to quiet, everyday moments that made hard times bearable, the tours capture Roebling at the height of steel mill production. They ask visitors to sit with questions that don't have easy answers: What would you give up for stability? What does it mean to live side by side without living the same story?
Roebling Museum exists to save the stories history usually forgets: low-paid industrial workers, renters, caregivers, children. This project helps visitors remember the choices those people made, the lives they built, and how their experience shaped our world.

The tours are amazing, and wonderful, and way better than anything I ever thought we would have at the museum!
